Lock Fixing and Lock Changing – when and how!
A problematic lock can manifest itself in various ways, on any door type and can fail either locked or unlocked. Either way, this has the potential to cause you an issue and at the most inconvenient time. We recommend that once a lock starts to become problematic, it is rectified promptly.
The common components that we see fail on a regular basis are euro cylinders, mortice dead locks/ sash locks and night latches. It is not always cost effective to rectify or repair these, rather change and/ or upgrade where pertinent. This can all be done in a relatively short time, making this a cost effective solution.
There are still locks in use today, that once serviced (if cost effective) will see many more years of service. However, it is always advisable to check with your insurance company as to what they specify as a minimum requirement for external door security. Most will stipulate either a multipoint-point locking system or BS 3621:2007. We stock a variety of locks `on-board`, to cater for most situations, including British Standard upgrades should you require it. If in doubt, just ask.
